About Me

I'm a 27-year-old fantasy football enthusiast originally from Detroit and now living in Chicago. Yes, I am a Lions fan, and yes it does suck. Why do you think I have so much time to spend on fantasy football? I'm going on my 5th season of fantasy football this year and became the proud owner of some hardware last season. I was also recently hired to be the Senior Writer at FantasyCrowd.com.

Fantasy Apprentice Week 10

I'm having issues with my other blog...so I just decided to post this week's Fantasy Apprentice article here.

Team 1

RB Chris Johnson 19.4
RB Frank Gore 24.4
TE Rob Gronkowski 27.7

Total= 71.5

Team 2

RB Adrian Peterson 11.5
RB Arian Foster 13
WR Andre Johnson 29.6
WR Reggie Wayne 6.4

Total= 60.5

A close one this week was won by Team 1 with a clutch performance by Rob Gronkowski on Sunday Night Football. He caught three touchdowns from Tom Brady and helped put his team over the top. A nice fillin for Antonio Gates.

Subpar performances by AP and Foster in week 10 opened the door for Team 2. Reggie Wayne and AP get brought back to the board room. No excuses that I can see for Reggie's peformance...it was a close game so it's not that the Colts stopped throwing the ball. It's a very uncharacteristic week for Reggie but you're fired.

We're down to the final six...see you next week.

Fantasy Apprentice Week 6

Fantasy Apprentice Week 6

Team 1

QB Aaron Rodgers 23.92
RB Chris Johnson 21.1
RB Frank Gore 14.9
WR Roddy White 14.3
WR Miles Austin 3.2
TE Antonio Gates 3.2

Total= 80.62

Team 2

RB Adrian Peterson 11.3
RB Ray Rice 20.6
WR Andre Johnson 27.8
WR Reggie Wayne 13.1
WR Calvin Johnson 25.6

Total= 98.4

Team 2 was playing down a player and without a quarterback but put up huge numbers. Big days from the Johnson Brothers (Andre and Calvin) really helped.

An otherwise uneventful week came down to Chris Johnson on Monday night. He needed about 40 points, he got 20.

Miles Austin and Antonio Gates get brought back to the boardroom. They both could only muster up 3.2 points a piece. Gates got injured though, and has been a stud so far. Austin has played really well too. He actually had a long touchdown called back because of a penalty.

This was a tough one but Miles Austin...you’re fired. See you guys next week.

Fantasy Apprentice Week 5

Team 1

QB Aaron Rodgers 18.72
RB Chris Johnson 25.2
RB Frank Gore 11.3
WR Larry Fitzgerald 16.3
WR Miles Austin 32
TE Antonio Gates 20.2

Total= 123.72

Team 2

QB Drew Brees 16.36
RB Adrian Peterson 11.8
RB Ray Rice 31.9
WR Andre Johnson 14.5
WR Reggie Wayne 13.5
WR Calvin Johnson 15.4

Total= 103.46

Lots of upsets and surprising performances in the NFL week 5. Oakland finally beat the Chargers, the Cowboys lost again and the defending champs lost to the Arizona Cardinals.

We had Adrian Peterson, Andre Johnson, Ray Rice and Miles Austin back this week. Both teams were at full strength, no byes, and Calvin Johnson got moved to team 2 in order to keep things even.

Miles Austin was the point leader with 32 this week. Ray Rice had a good week with a couple touchdowns as well.

The quarterback play was unusually poor this week. Both trigger men had potential to be fired this week, and as a matter fact, Drew Brees and Reggie Wayne were brought back to the board room after team 2 lost.

Reggie was the low point total for team 2. However, Drew Brees threw 3 interceptions against a team that gave up 41 points to the Chargers last week. Two of the interceptions led to Cardinal touchdowns.

This is a tough one because Reggie Wayne is coming off of a 15 reception monster game last week. Both of his supporting receivers were a little banged up so maybe the coverage was shaded a little more towards him. Either way, I think Brees had the more disappointing performance, especially considering the Saints lost to a pretty bad Cardinal team.

Drew you made it to the final week last year but…you’re fired.

Fantasy Apprentice Week 3

Team 1 wins again in week 3. A real close matchup though, they only pulled it out by less than 2 pts as Aaron Rodgers came through with enough points on Monday night to give team 1 the vic, even though they lost to the Bears.

Miles Austin got bailed out as he was clearly the biggest disappointment this week with only 4 pts.

Andre Johnson gets pulled in the boardroom for the second time already, but survives against Dallas Clark. Clark put up the worst point total for team 2, plus Andre was a bit banged up. If he comes in the room again, I might just have to pull the trigger next time. For this week though...Dallas Clark you're fired! See you next week.

Team 1

QB Aaron Rodgers 24
RB Chris Johnson 24.5
RB Frank Gore 23.5
WR Calvin Johnson 11.8
WR Larry Fitzgerald 10.6
WR Miles Austin 4
TE Antonio Gates 23.9

Total= 122.3

Team 2

QB Drew Brees 28.6
RB Adrian Peterson 36
RB Ray Rice 13.6
WR Andre Johnson 10.4
WR Randy Moss 12.2
WR Reggie Wayne 10.5
TE Dallas Clark 9.4

Total= 120.7

Fantasy Apprentice Week 2

Team 1 wins week 2. Except for Chris Johnson, they had a solid performance all the way around. In CJ's defense, he did play the Steelers D, so I can give him a break this week.

Team 2 was one man down, and pretty much got a no show from Maurice Jones-Drew. It's pretty shocking to see him have such bad stats. The Jags never got it going in San Diego, and he fumbled once. He leaves me no choice. MJD you're fired. See you guys next week!

Team 1

QB Aaron Rodgers 30
RB Chris Johnson 10
RB Ray Rice 15
WR Calvin Johnson 12
WR Larry Fitzgerald 15
WR Miles Austin 24
WR/RB Frank Gore 35
TE Antonio Gates 22

Total= 163

Team 2

QB Drew Brees 22
RB Adrian Peterson 29
RB MJD 4
WR Andre Johnson 33
WR Randy Moss 11
WR Reggie Wayne 22
TE Dallas Clark 19

Total= 140

NFL Fantasy Apprentice Week 1 2010

Team 1 wins Week 1 in the NFL Fantasy Apprentice this year. A big performance from Chris Johnson and Miles Austin helped pave the way for an easy victory.

Two guys from Team 2 stand out and will be brought to the board room...Andre Johnson and Michael Turner. Andre Johnson's lack of production is a little more surprising. He only had 3 catches for 33 yards. Of course his stats took a hit to the Arian Foster show, who had 3 touchdowns in his debut as the Texans starting running back (I picked him in the 6 & 7th rounds in both my leages btw :). His team won the game, and he is a perennial stud, so I think I will have to give him a pass for this week for Team 2's sake.

Even though he is a consensus first round pick, I don't expect much from Michael Turner this year, especially in PPR format. Therefore I have to let him go. Michael Turner...you're fired.

On a personal note, even though I have Arian Foster in both my leagues, I am not too optimistic about my teams chances this year. I don't feel like I got good value drafting out of the 2 spot. I waited too long to draft a quarterback, and picked Larry Fitz over other studs like Miles Austin, Roddy White and Anquan Boldin, who all look like they will have great years. Maybe I can pick up some magic on the waiver wire, you never know. See you next week, thanks for stoppin by!

Team 1

QB Aaron Rodgers 16.42
RB Chris Johnson 31
RB Ray Rice 8.2
WR Calvin Johnson 8.5
WR Larry Fitzgerald 13.3
WR Miles Austin 30.6
WR/RB Frank Gore 14.3
TE Antonio Gates 18.6

Total= 140.92

Team 2

QB Drew Brees 14.48
RB Adrian Peterson 13.1
RB MJD 14.3
WR Andre Johnson 6.3
WR Randy Moss 10.9
WR Reggie Wayne 22.9
WR/RB Michael Turner 5.9
TE Dallas Clark 25

Total= 112.88

The Fantasy Apprentice Is Back!

Hello Folks, that’s right…the fantasy apprentice is back! I didn’t know if I would have time to do it again this year, but its looks like time will permit. I will admit, I got a little burnt out last year…started writing fantasy articles in May last year…by the time the season rolled around I wasn’t even really that excited about it. This year I stored up all my energy, and after ordering the NFL channel for the preseason games…I got the fever again.

To refresh everyone’s memory, and for anybody that may be new to the game, basically I create two teams that face off against each other just like normal fantasy football teams. The only difference is, at the end of every week, a player off the losing team that I feel performed the worst gets eliminated or fired (like the tv show the apprentice with Donald Trump). Many times the player who performed the worst overall was not fired, because he saved by the play of his teammates, who helped his team win the game. So, there is a little bit of luck involved as well.

If a player happens to get injured, I simply replace him with the next best available at his position. If this is debatable, I always turn to my twitter clan to take a vote.

The scoring system is PPR. 1 pt for each reception, 6 pts for each touchdown regardless of position and 1 pt for every 10 yards RB/WR and 1 pt for every 25 yards for QB.

I had a great time doing it last year. I actually did an NFL and college apprentice in 09’. This year I’m just sticking with the NFL. I feel like there is a great deal of legitimacy after crowning the first champion last year. Peyton Manning ended up winning the Fantasy Apprentice in 09’. It was a testament to not only his stats that he put up all year long, but also to his consistency.

So without further ado, here are the teams I choose for the Fantasy Apprentice in 2010:

Team 1

QB Aaron Rodgers
RB Chris Johnson
RB Ray Rice
WR Calvin Johnson
WR Larry Fitzgerald
WR Miles Austin
WR/RB Frank Gore
TE Antonio Gates

Team 2

QB Drew Brees
RB Adrian Peterson
RB MJD
WR Andre Johnson
WR Randy Moss
WR Reggie Wayne
WR/RB Michael Turner
TE Dallas Clark
